Where did the name come from?
People often ask where “Thrifty Tyke” comes from. To me, it’s more than just a catchy title; it’s exactly how I live my life.
The “Thrifty” bit is my mindset.
By definition, a thrifty person uses money and resources carefully to avoid waste. If I had to pick one word to describe my approach to life—whether I’m meal prepping, booking a holiday, or hitting the gym—this is it. It’s not about being “cheap”; it’s about being resourceful so you can afford the things that truly matter.
The “Tyke” bit is my heritage.
While less common outside the North, a “Tyke” is a slang term for someone from Yorkshire, England. We’re a folk known for being straight-talking, down-to-earth, and—most importantly—famously canny with our brass.
I’ve combined that proud Yorkshire grit with a passion for health and finance to show you that you can live a high-quality life on a carefully managed budget. I’m here to share that “Tyke” wisdom to help you and your family thrive.
